The OM is a platform to spread awareness of my work and highlight the initiatives, organisations and individuals I collaborate with and support.

The word OM represents wisdom, truth and a pathway to enlightenment.

Guided by the core principles of

INNOVATE, ADVOCATE, COLLABORATE, EDUCATE,

I develop pathways and solutions for superyacht crew to achieve success within their professional lives; whilst driving the industry to develop new strategies to evolve and grow towards an innovative, sustainable and equitable future

“This is an incredibly important time for the industry, when finally there has been the realisation that the future sustainability and growth of the sector is not just about technical and ecological solutions. I believe that crew are the vital human capital, the beating heart of the industry, supporting and retaining them, allowing them to train, learn and grow throughout their careers is an equally impactful investment.”

Emma Baggett: Director

I grew up sailing dinghies on a reservoir in the midlands, subsequently moving on to yachts from the age of 13, most weekends were spent in the Solent sailing with my dad. This led to a an early passion for sail training voyages and working on traditional and classic sailing vessels.

I spent 12 years working at sea, initially as a Cook/Mate on a 49ft classic yawl, bashing across the English Channel every week exploring the Brittany coastline with the Island Cruising Club. I then did my time as a yacht skipper and instructor, working out of Salcombe in Devon I spent a year working on square riggers and then superyachts both sail and power. After a break to gain a BSc Hons degree in Maritime Business & Law at Plymouth University, I continued my career working in the classic sail fleet in the Mediterranean, USA and Caribbean.

I am best known for the development and delivery of unique industry-led, innovative superyacht training solutions, with particular expertise in ensuring that proposed courses can work effectively for students to support their long term careers, are focused 100% on industry need, and meet the quality requirements of Higher Education.

As an experienced lecturer and course manager, I developed and delivered the first MCA approved Superyacht Deck Cadetship, which I ran for over ten years. Next came Superyacht Interior and award-winning Superyacht Chef training programmes with UKSA in Cowes. I have developed and written two HNC/FdSc programmes in collaboration with the superyacht industry, Plymouth University and Falmouth Marine School in Operational Yacht Science and Superyacht Engineering, with the aim of taking a new approach to educating and supporting crew, enabling them to drive growth, productivity, and owner experience with professional integrity. I continue to work in this field and am currently focusing on the development of quality, supported distance learning solutions from FdSc through to MSc and professional development courses for superyacht crew to take them beyond their Coc’s.

To support the growth and acceptance of the first superyacht cadetship and crew training programmes within the industry, I spent many years networking, attending industry events and seeking out industry leaders to raise awareness and acceptance of the need for joined up careers training to supply professional committed crew to the industry. I became adept at pitching, promoting and gaining support, understanding, partnerships and funding to help those that would not otherwise have been able to access training go onto successful careers at sea.

I am an experienced business and strategic development specialist, having worked with a broad range of stakeholders to build on new market opportunities both in the superyacht sector and in marine technology; supporting them with innovative, collaborative solutions. I remain extremely interested in the future technological developments of the maritime sector, and the drive to reach emissions targets and achieve a more sustainable future for the industry. I particularly enjoy working to connect individuals and organisations for mutual business benefit.

I have strong skills in relationship building and creating successful partnerships, maintaining close relationships with key industry stakeholders throughout my career which have been a huge help, enabling me to access resources, industry leverage and key introductions. Driven by my lifelong support for the underdog, and my personal mission to remove financial, social and educational barriers to enable young people to access careers at sea, I have enjoyed success in both applying for and attracting funding, sponsorship, and industry support to this end.

I have a reputation for maintaining long term, supportive, professional relationships with crew throughout their careers. This enables me to have a unique insight into the day to day operational demands, changing technologies, and economic developments of the sector and their impact on both crew and owners.

I currently provide career, professional development, life after and alongside yachting, and business start-up mentoring and advice to over 250 superyacht professionals. I have personally trained over 3000 crew and placed over 1000 individuals into the industry over the course of my career.

I am currently an active member of a number of industry steering groups and professional associations including Chair of the IAMI GUEST Marine Hospitality Steering Group.

I live in Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
